Budget Table Centrepiece Ideas

If you’re looking to cut costs on your centrepieces, here’s how…

While ornate arrangements make wonderful centrepieces, they can also make a hefty dent in your budget.  If you have a large number of tables and can see the costs creeping up, there are ways of saving money without scrimping on style.

·         If you have your heart set on floral centrepieces, consider having pot plants. They look fabulous, especially in pretty pots at a country wedding. They're also inexpensive and can be given away as a lovely gift to a person at every table.

·         Floral centrepieces tend to be expensive when they involve a lot of work for the florist. So stick to simple arrangements that don't involve a lot of wiring.

·         Tall, ornate arrangements can be expensive, but remember that you don't have to have them on every table. Instead, alternate them with smaller arrangements. As well as cutting down the costs, you'll have interest in the room at all eye levels.

·         Balloons can make wonderful centrepieces. Choose one or two colours that co-ordinate with your colour scheme and allow around three balloons per table. They add height to the room and can be ‘fixed' to the centre of each table with an elegant balloon weight.

·         Have an ‘entertainment tower' in the centre of each table. This can be a bowl or glass cake stand with party poppers, favours, disposable cameras and other treats for guests to enjoy throughout the reception.

·         Consider having artificial flowers. Many are so beautiful they almost look real. Prices tend to be excellent and you can keep them afterwards.

·         Lighting is always important and candlelight is the most romantic. Check with your venue that they allow naked flame, and then have a candle in the centre of each table. For a beach theme, this could be in the form of a lovely storm lantern. Or, for a traditional white wedding, a selection of church candles in various heights.

·         If you have a children's table, they certainly won't be impressed with a beautiful array of flowers, so you can always cut down the cost on their table. Instead, give them a paper tablecloth and have a large bowl of coloured pencils in the centre of the table.
